Google Gives New Options for Search
About a week ago, my boss and I noticed some new features that are enabled when performing a Google search query. Google is now allowing you to utilize a ‘Show Options’ button that really opens up your search and allows you to see results based on a number of very interesting parameters.
When options are hidden:

Show options:

Some of the new filtering parameters that are available when you click ‘options’ are:
- Video results
- Forum results
- Reviews results
- Recent results
- Results from the last 24 hours
- Results from the past week
- Results from the past year
- Images from the page
- More text
- Wonder wheel
- Timeline
I am especially interested in the new Wonder Wheel feature, which does a good job of breaking down other related items based off of your initial search query.

What does this mean for SEO?
This yells to me that Google is continuing their effort to push their Universal & Semantic Search Platforms. This means that as an SEO, you will have to consider more factors than in the past:
- Your main SEO efforts
- Related search terms & keywords
- Other types of media (video optimization, etc)
- The freshness of your content (does it still have that new car smell?)
What do you think?
