New Microsoft Search Engine Bing – The Decision Engine
Is Bing just a pretty cover on the same old Microsoft book?

A couple days ago Microsoft launches its new search engine Bing, calling it “The Decision Engine”. While I  have to admit I am skeptical of anything Microsoft puts out these days, Bing looks very intriguing. Here is a preview video below:

Things I Like

  • Simplistic, yet beautiful (and flexible) design
  • Enhanced related search archive
  • Running search history right at your fingertips
  • Enhanced category display features
  • Excellent design & layout for image searches
  • Enhanced video search with hovering autoplay feature
  • Increased emphasis on Local Search (where MSN was severly lacking)

All in all, I think this will be a win as Microsoft has taken many of the best features of Google and expanded on them, all while bringing some very unique ideas of their own to the table. It will be very interesting to see how this battle plays out as Microsoft tries to climb back up the search engine power rankings.

Will anybody ever be able to steal Google’s thunder? Lets discuss…

  • here it is. So, why a new search engine? Why the new name? ... a new approach to go beyond search to build what we call a decision engine. ...
  • i think that Bing is not as good as Google. Google would still index new websites faster than Bing. Microsoft would still need a lot of catching to do with GoogleBot.
